On this day in 1776, General George Washington launches a gutsy attack and crosses the Delaware River with 5,400 troops, hoping to surprise a Hessian force celebrating Christmas at their winter quarters in Trenton, New Jersey. This was a pivotal moment during the Revolutionary War, cementing Washington's legacy to make the tough, calculating decisions when necessary (Read more here).
