The Dog Days of Winter; Chess Moves
Charles Barkley once referred to early-February as being the "dog days" of the NBA regular season, meaning that the NBA season had already been in progress for several months, but the end of the season was still too far away to be considered close.
In the stock market, February is typically a cold months for prices, in addition to the weather outside. Even steep uptrends, such as the many of which the major airlines have enjoyed in recent years, are likely to take a breather, especially if oil continues to try to stabilize. Still, discipline and agility are paramount in this market environment.
As such, I covered half of my LUV short at $43.09 from my $45.37 entry on Friday, noted in this blog post, to scale gains. I raised my cover-stop to my entry price.
As for my open positions, I am long TZA, short LUV NKE UAL.
