On this Memorial Day weekend, The Messenger (2009) tackles the most somber side of war head on in a brutally cold and honest way, without any of the "action scenes" we have become accustomed to in even the most graphic of war films. 

Ben Foster, Samantha Morton, and Woody Harrelson dominate the screen, with Harrelson delivering one of his finest performances in his career.
