Complacency Before the Storm
In the wake of Hurricane Joaquin, which just strengthened to a Category 4 as it pounds the Bahamas, many of the classic "hurricane plays" are categorically not swirling higher.
GNRC, the firm which sells backup generators, was up this morning and is now off nearly 3%. Natural gas continues to weaken, a perennial disappointment for bottom-fishers. There is, however, a play doing well which I am noting for Members.
But, at the moment, with GNRC and UNG in the red there is little in the way of any type of concern about Joaquin. It remains to be seen if that amounts to complacency, should the storm prove to wreak havoc anything close to Sandy or Katrina.
Elsewhere, not only is TWTR plunging again when it probably *should* have bounced, but YELP also remains exceptionally weak. Both charts may need a complete washout of 1-3 days of the angle of descent changing to straight-down before we arrive at a tradable low.
