Saturday Night at Market Chess Cinemas

Directed by the great Louis Malle, Atlantic City (1980) is unfortunately bound to be forgotten.

Much like the saga and downfall of the actual Atlantic City, New Jersey, in terms of both gaming and the city itself, the film inevitably became overshadowed by other films set in gambling meccas. 
Case in point: Atlantic City is among the forty-one films to be nominated for all "Big Five" Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Screenplay, and one of only eight among this group to not take home a single award (via Wikipedia).

Without question, this is a high quality film filled with poignant performances from Burt Lancaster, Susan Sarandon, and Kate Reid.
