Good Super Bowl, Bad Super Bowl

Following up on recent blog posts, it may depends on your bias, but so far NRG is emerging as a possible Super Bowl winner, given that the big game is being played in Houston's NRG Stadium. Of course, the stock's rally may have literally nothing to do with the extra media attention the firm is receiving, since the chart has been steadily improving for a while. So either way, NRG continues to merit your attention on the long side with its nuclear segment and diversified power businesses.

As for UAA and going long into the proverbial falling knife after earnings, Tom Brady is certainly a household name and Under Armour celebrity athlete playing on Sunday. The Three Day Rule has come and gone, so aggressive traders can take a stab long, especially if Brady wins MVP of the game.

But this would only be for a very short-term scalp, if at all, given that UAA has and remains severely damaged goods with plenty of lazy longs from much higher who bought the name simply because they liked the brands.
