General Winter May Turn Back Russia's Invaders

On the whole, emerging markets have dazzled in 2017. India and China have been "BRIC" leaders, without question.

However, Russia has weathered a barrage of seemingly negative geopolitical headlines all year with grace. Indeed, Russians have become acclimated over generations to harsh conditions, namely when it comes to weather in winter.

And should we see a Christmas push higher yet in emerging markets, I expect Russia to turn back its invaders the way it did Napoleon and then the German Army some one hundred thirty years later, with help from General Winter.

With this in mind, Yandex is an internet search play, loosely seen as the Google of Russia.

On YNDX's daily chart, below, we have a sound, sideways base in an overall uptrend. Although the action got a bit sloppy in recent weeks, bulls defend the simple support trend, highlighted in light blue.

YNDX is out of the gate impressively this morning, as we will be keeping a close eye on it with Members the rest of the session for a potential long entry.

To be sure, the FOMC this week is a known risk for emerging markets regarding if we see any aggressive reactions to monetary policy shifts. But it is worth reminding ourselves that the overarching trend remains higher.
