You See This? This is This

Crude oil is crude oil. 

The popular thesis that stocks are moving in lockstep with Black Gold is getting thrown for a loop today, as equities giving up most or all of yesterday's gains while crude surged after inventory this morning. 

So what is the message from the market: You see this? This is this. Crude is crude. It's not something else. There are no magic correlations in the current market, and maybe ever. But especially here, trading equities off crude has been misguided.
