Saturday Night at Market Chess Cinemas

"Mad Dogs" was a one-season-and-done, as the Amazon Original Series based off a British series was not renewed for another season. But that may not be such a bad thing. Even the creators of the show admitted that it would be a shame to see a high energy, exciting, fun first season become watered-down in subsequent seasons given the implied finality of the show's premise. 

Part of what makes the show work so well is the chemistry between its likable actors: Ben Chaplin, Michael Imperioli, Romany Malco, Steve Zahn, and Bill Zane are all recognizable and talented personalities, making the show flow seamlessly due to its excellent casting.

Beyond that, the main reason I am recommending it is because "Mad Dogs" steals the high notes from The Hangover (2009) and its subsequent sequels--The storylines are slightly less campy (though still pushing the edges of reality) and the comedy is a bit more on point. To be sure, both "Mad Dogs" and The Hangover films revolve around the "frat pack on vacation" theme--A group of men roughly in their 40s go on vacation and run into trouble through no fault of their own. 

But "Mad Dogs" is certainly worth a viewing for its one and only Amazon season on on its own merits, too.
