We're Just in Between Rounds
The summer doldrums seem to be kicking in a bit today, with the market pace rather slow and many traders apparently becoming frustrated with most indices locked in a two-week range.
However, it appears that we are simply in-between rounds of a boxing match, given the loaded lineup of earnings reports tonight GDP in the morning, not to mention the report cards for European stress tested banks. Note that the likes of BCS CS DB all remain considerably weak here, as one of our Members astutely noted earlier today. Stocks do not seem fazed, once again, but tomorrow may shed light on the situation a bit more.
As for tonight, AMZN and GOOGL headline the earnings, followed by CVX XOM UPS, and even BCS tomorrow morning.
So, as you can, see we should not mistake the slow action today for any type of extended lull in the tape, in all likelihood.
I have a few positions on and am intrigued by the improved price action of Pandora and YELP which are not getting whacked off TWTR. I am also looking to increase precious mining exposure as they attempt to emerge from their recent bases.
More in my recap after the bell.
