Sunday Matinée at Market Chess Cinemas

Available on Netflix, Gran Torino (2008) is vintage Clint Eastwood in his twilight years.

I recall watching the film in a theater (which seems like an antiquated concept these days) in Las Vegas right near the depths of the financial crises and that devastating bear market. The audience was instantly gripped and likely fed off Eastwood's resilient, tough spirit to find the otherwise dark (but very funny at times) film uplifting.

Eastwood also gives plenty of no-name actors a start in this film, as he is the only big name associated with the project, filmed in Michigan. You do not want to miss the talented Jamie Cullum (and Eastwood himself) on the soundtrack.
