The Hunt Brothers and Silver Thursday

On Thursday, March 27, 1980, following the attempt by brothers Nelson Bunker Hunt, William Herbert Hunt, and Lamar Hunt to corner the silver market, the price of silver plunged and led to panic on commodity and futures exchanges.

The following video gives some insight into one of the more interested post-WWII events in market history. 

As it turned out, the selloff in equities also seen that March 1980 marked, at 729.90, the last time we would ever see those levels (in August of 1982 the Dow hit 770, precisely, and proceed to commence one of the most explosive bull markets ever).
