Got Brine on My Mind
A split amongst retail earnings plays reporting, albeit tilted slightly to the downside, has the XRT retail sector ETF only down marginally today as we head towards Black Friday.
On a personal level, instead of getting hyped up to stand in line at 4am, I prefer to focus on the brining of turkeys and ducks beginning tonight in order to make the meat more tender come Thanksgiving. I am also careful to not waste the giblets, opting to use them for an overnight bone broth in the slow cooker.
Turning back to markets, the year-end performance chase is not just relegated to the likes of MSFT. We also have COST LULU and ORLY (below, quarterly chart) as fodder for fund managers to get as many of the narrow group of winners on their books.
Of course, I still maintain it will leave quite the air pocket below soon enough, once this last gasp of liquidity exhausts itself.
On a more positive note, nice gap up for gold and her miners. Watch the GDX ETF above $30 for bottom breakout confirmation.
