Ten Years in the Books for Market Chess
If you have followed my work over the years then you know that I generally abstain from indulging in self-aggrandizing. The wins come, the losses come. That is life as a true speculator. I put myself out there every single day and let the chips fall where they may. So, there is no need for constant puffery--My work and personality are not for everyone, and vice versa.
But since I began writing and making videos about markets in 2009 my focus has always been on consistency, professionalism, depth of analysis in a palatable and entertaining format, and a blue-collar work ethic. Of course I have made my fair share of foolish mistakes and slip-ups along the way. I learn from them and move on. However, for the most part I take pride in sticking to my mission after all of these years.
Thus, I will allow myself a brief departure from the above to note that today marks the tenth anniversary since we opened Market Chess Subscription Services. The general website, Market Chess, launched back in late-2014, with premium services rolled out in April 2015.
According to LendingTree.com, roughly 65% of all businesses fail by the ten year mark, when they analyzed data of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. I am not sure just how accurate those statistics are. However, I can say that I take immense pride in having made it in this far, thanks in large part to an unwaveringly loyal core group of Members and readers.
If you do this long enough then you realize that your true supporters are not those who constantly and loudly proclaim how much they love you, for those are usually the people who wake up one day and suddenly change their minds. No, the true supporters are what I affectionately call the "silent majority," of readers and Members--They reach out maybe a few times a year, if that, to voice steady support. They watch you carefully to make sure you are staying true to your purpose and mission.
And they make it all worth it--All of the internet trolls, the passive-aggressive types, the ridiculous smear campaigns from malcontents, the toils of markets and social media in general, I survived it all and outlasted most of them.
So this anniversary is much more about them, the silent majority, than it is about me. I would also like to give credit to Kevin Wentworth, the gentleman who designed this website and has kept up with it despite his many other responsibilities and commitments in life.
Thank you again for helping us get to the ten year mark (Here is to hoping for twenty).
